9 months

Yes, Amelia, you are NINE months old today! You are growing and smiling and babbling and constantly amazing us. Still just two bottom teeth shining bright, but EIGHT on their way (top two center are so close). You love being carried up and down the stairs. You smile whenever you see Java and try to pet her when she's nearby. You giggle randomly and also when tickled. You're learning to use a sippy cup and eat real food (not just purees) like waffles! You have a fixation with our feet. You still love to bounce and enjoy when I hold you and dance around. You LOVE to give us (open mouth) kisses and kiss Daddy first thing in the morning (as well as pat his face to say hello). Watching you grow, mature and develop is unbelievably joyful... LOVE YOU SO.

Changes:
  • Learning to sit up from lying down and stand from sitting
  • Interacting with us - kissing, waving, observing, loving!
  • Playing more interactively with toys - putting smaller cups into bigger ones, putting balls into the gumball machine, playing with the sit-to-stand walker
  • Imitating - laughing with us when we say "ha ha" and repeating some noises (below) back to us
Noises:
  • You now affectionately call for us specifically, Mama and Dada.
  • "Baba" is still the most constant sound, and you sing along to "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Barbara Ann" (Beach Boys). "La la" is a fun singalong sound as well to "Lollipop" and "Sing a Song" (Sesame Street).
  • You say "Na" when you're tired ("Namee" = sleepy in Arabic)
  • At daycare, you've said "two" (the number) "buh" (for book) and "ta" (for train or toys).
Food:
  • New: cider donuts, waffles (we're starting our adventure into adult foods, so there will certainly be more updates next month!)
