Year Two - First four months

Yes, Amelia, the first third of Year 2 has flown by!

Around 14 months, you learned to walk on marble floors in Florida. Your vocabulary is through the roof (see below)! You can say about 3/4 of your word list on your own, but imitate and understand the rest of the words. You can answer questions with "yeah" and "no." The other day, you screamed "eyes" when the sun was too bright. You constantly demand "hattie" which means "give it to me" in Arabic.

You've enjoyed a few new foods, but still love banana, cheese, chicken, waffles, apples, puffs, cheerios, lentils and now hummus, broccoli, string beans, strawberries, blueberries, (fistfuls of) cottage cheese, veggie straws, pretzels and pancakes. You're fond of playing "Where's Amelia?" or peekaboo. You regularly ask for Ernie or Elmo (TV or songs). You are prone to spirited random feet stomping and dancing wildly around the living room with a huge grin on your face.

You combine words to say "Hi Mama," "Hi Dada," and "Hi Java" and "Bye Mom," "Bye Dad" and "Bye Java." You still do baby signs for milk, please, all done, thirsty, hear and love you - and we're working on elephant. On the changing table, you are a huge "helper" putting your "arms" in your shirts and taking off your socks. You're intrigued by shoes and are starting to appreciate stuffed animals. You'll now read books for longer than two pages at a time. Mommy's hair is very fun to brush. Cabinets and drawers are fun to empty (when we forget to lock them). When I eat something hot and blow on it, you think it's funny to imitate with your food. Any pen is "aqua doodle." You love listening to birds in the morning and in the evenings when we're out on our nightly walks. And we've started to work on alphabet flashcards (we usually get through about 8 at a time). Bubbles in the tub and brushing your teeth (all 10 of them, including two molars!) are pretty exciting to you. Also, you can go up the stairs! And you get very excited when it's swing time. And pretty much all of the above is exciting TO US!

We have so much fun playing with you and watching you play independently. You are cuddly, sweet, cautious and curious. (So, so curious.) Now that the weather is warmer, much more outdoor fun is coming your way - road trips, weddings, the beach, family visits and who knows what other surprises are in store... LOVE YOU SO BIG GIRL!
